Playing a Hybrid Game

Introduction

Our game platform is browser based so can be easily accessed through a phone or computer by just using your browser (We reccomend Google Chrome for the best experience).
Participants can connect and collaborate on all of our interactve games. These indoor games are ideal for hybrid scenarios because there is no need to download any app and also because of the device synchronisation feature.

More information here: Device Synchronisation explained : Team Activities Support

Note that these instructions are specifically for playing indoor games. If you are looking for outdoor games, check out this article here: Playing an Outdoor Game (2)

How does Hybrid work?
A Hybrid event is an event where you have a mix of people in the one room together and also then some connecting in remotely but they're all playing the one game. The first thing to do is to decide how the players will communicate. Take a look at the following scenarios which may help you decide:

A group of 20 people want to play a game on Friday afternoon. 12 of them will be in the office that day but the other 8 work remotely so they will need to connect in via video call.

Scenario 1:
You could have the remote participants play each other, in this case you will set up one call and within that have 2 x breakout rooms to accommodate the 8 peolpe (4 people in each team).
The players who are in the office can then play each other in 3 X teams of 4.
The players in the office dont need to be on a call as they're able to communicate together as they're in the one room. However, the players on the call need to be able to chat to each other,m hence the video call platform and breakout rooms.

Scenario 2:
You could mix everyone up and make 5 teams with 1 or 2 remote people in each team along with some people from the office in each team. In this scenario, each team would setup their own call themselves with their remote team mate (s) and play that way.

In scenario 1, you are essentially running an In Person Event and a Virtual Event side by side. More information on both of these can be found below:

The Set-Up

Once you have decided how you would like your teams to communicate, we reccomend setting up the list of team names in advance of your event - see this article here Creating team names
We recommend that every player has a desktop or laptop but you can also use a phone too.
You should have received a game link for your selected game in the email when booking.

We strongly recommend checking out the game link in advance of your event to ensure that no elements are being blocked by company firewall. if the game doesn't appear as it should, check out this article for more information on what to do: My game link is not working

How it works

The organiser of your event books a game and receives the link and game instructions in an email.
The organiser sets up the team list (see above)
The organiser decides on how the teams will communicate. (see section on 'How does a Hybrid event work' above)
On the day of the event, the organiser will split the group up into teams of 4 and assign them a team name. This team name should correspond to the list of team names already created.
The Organiser send the link out to each participant and give them a short explanation of what the game is.
Everyone opens up their device, accesses the game link, watches the intro video and joins the team they have been given (see point 3 above)
The players select the team they have been assigned by the event organiser.
Each team members device becomes synchronised with their other teammates and they're now ready to play the game.
When players join a team, their devices will become synchronised, this means that any player in that team can input and submit an answer. All players need to agree on the answer before submitting as you only have one chance per question. When a player hits next, everyone in the team will move on together.

Tip: It is a good idea to nominate a team captain who can input answers and have the final vote on any disputes.
Tip: The game link could be emailed out to the participants in advance of the event but just ask them not to click on it until instructed to do so.

Creating Teams

The host can create teams before the game begins or Players can also create their own teams when they start the game. There is no limit to how many teams can be created or how many players can play. It is recommended that each team have a maximum of 4 players.

Check out this article on how to create your teams: Creating teams.
It is important to note that although you are creating the list of team names, you are not assigning any individuals to the teams. You can let each player know what team they should select when they start playing.
